Step 1: Prepare the Pinecones

The first step in creating your Pinecone Garland is to prepare the pinecones. These Pinecones were in an airtight bag since last year so I was not worried about bugs. If you are worried about the little critters that may be hanging out in the pinecones you can bake them in the oven at 250 degrees for 1-2 hours. You can also purchase pinecones that are already prepared from craft stores or Amazon. These pinecones from Hobby Lobby come in a variety of sizes and are very inexpensive.

Step 2: Add a Hook

Now that your pinecones are prepped and ready to go, it’s time to add the eye screw hooks. Start by placing small eye screws onto the base of each pinecone. This will allow you to easily attach them to the twine later on. Make sure the eye screws are securely fastened so that the pinecones don't fall off.

Step 3: Add Some Shine

Now it's time to add a little sparkle to your pinecones. Apply RubnBuff to each pinecone, using a small brush. RubnBuff comes in a variety of colors, so choose one that matches your decor. I love the Antique Gold Color!  This step will give your pinecones a beautiful, shimmering finish.

Step 3: String it Together

Once the RubnBuff has dried, it's time to string your pinecones together. Take a piece of twine and tie a knot around the eye screw of the first pinecone. Leave a few inches of twine between each pinecone to create a visually pleasing spacing. (I used ~4’ spacing for this project). Continue this process until all of your pinecones are securely attached to the twine.
